The NBA is one of the largest organizations in the world. It is a very large sports organization, and controversial as well. It goes very far back and the most famous stars have come from the NBA. A little history, back in the 40’s-50’s, the Minneapolis Lakers dominated the early years of the NBA winning five titles between 1948-1954. It all started however, in 1947, by Howie Dallmar, he took a big shot in the final minutes and clinched the first title In the league that later became known as the National Basketball Association. (commonly known as the NBA)
Many legends have arisen from the game, becoming celebrities, sponsors, and idols to many. Among these include Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’ Neal, Tony Parker, Chris Webber, Dwight Howard, Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Magic Johnson, and many more. Some fun facts about these legends or their teams I will include as well. Chris Webber never played one game for the team that drafted him. They immediately traded him to the Golden State Warriors. Wilt Chamberlin had his number retired by the Harlem Globetrotters, he spent one year with the team, and then retired his number shortly after, no. 13.

With all of these interesting and fun facts, these great players had many special moments that will forever change the game and make it what it is. However, some things are not always good and may make the game not its best. One of these we will look at, and find out why it is not loved by the players of the NBA. This would be the “tanking problem” and we will see why it is on its way out of the NBA currently. The NBA wants to make it harder for other teams to replicate “The Process.” Adam Silver, (pictures below) the MBA commissioner, hated that commissioners were trying to collect high draft picks, and he created a plan to get rid of the practice. The league is working on draft-reform legislation that could be in place before the 2019 NBA Draft. Two of the components of the reform would be flattening the odds for teams in the lottery, and making it possible for teams to move further up on lottery night. Currently in the game, the team that finishes with the worst record has a 25 percent chance of landing the No. 1 pick and can’t fall further than fourth. The NBA Competition Committee is expected to send a formal proposal to the board of governors next week. If these changes don’t end up affecting the 2018 draft coming up , as ESPN’s report suggests, it would be good news for the Knicks.
